Almost Manhunter!
Here is the wonderful 1984 Baxter paper collection of the Manhunter adventures by Archie Goodwin and Walt Simonson from Detetective Comics. Simonson's evocative cover for this core collection has become iconic.
Here's a recreation of that classic cover by an unknown artist.
Here is that same cover rendered in his own highly distinctive style by Fred Hembeck in glorious black and white.
And here is that Hembeck rendering in even more glorious full color.
Here is the Golden Age Joe Simon and Jack Kirby cover for Adventure Comics #79 which debuted the original Manhunter, the man destined to be revived so gracefully by Goodwin and Simonson during the Bronze Age.
And finally here is an homage to that classic debut cover redone by John Lucas with the Bronze version of Paul Kirk instead.
Great fresh ways to see a classic character.
