Favorite Heroes Countdown #23 - Nexus!

Ironically the cover above is a fantastic piece of work by Paul Gulacy for the debut issue of Nexus. It's ironic because it is the art of the awesome Steve Rude which has long made Nexus one of my favorite Indie heroes and popular enough right now to make this list. I use it to head this post because that image is forever burned into my memory and imagination when I first spied it in a newsstand on a short trip to Chicago. I wanted it immediately, but circumstances suggested I wait. Eventually I did get hold of a copy and loved it. Created by Rude and Mike Baron Nexus is an interstellar killer of killers, a man who is driven by birth and circumstance to hunt down the despots of the universe and bring them to heel.

Nexus has been an itinerant hero, starting at the little shop dubbed Capitol Comics before ultimately heading over to First Comics for many years and then to Dark Horse for many years more.

Now Steve Rude seems to have firm control and every once in a while will release more Nexus for us all to enjoy. I know I am eager for another installment any time now.

Rip Off

  1. I have to confess, I've never heard of Nexus, or if I did, I forgot.
