You take this cover for an Andre Norton novel, better known as
Star Man's Son.
Add this cover of an issue
Fantastic Universe Science Fiction.
And you get this classic Kirby cover for the debut issue of
Kamandi. All you need to complete the image is a cat.
But that was inside the comic instead.
Many might've been onto this for sometime, but I only got a clue when I read a chance reference to the Ace novel part of the cover by Gerry Conway in one of the more recent issues of
Alter Ego.
Rip Off
Interesting…As they say over at Mick Jagger’s Dojo: “It’s Only Rock n Roll – but I like It, like it – yes, I do…”
ReplyDeleteI don't go to that Dojo. I'm a Beatles fan.
DeleteRip Off :)
And here I thought Planet of the Apes was the first.
ReplyDeleteKirby was asked to create a PotA knockoff and Kamandi is the result, a wonderful result.
