I know very little about these vintage Wally Wood efforts.
Here's what Wikipedia says about them. I have the first one, apparently they aren't particularly rare, but I do not have the second. These covers are beautiful examples though of why Wood is still regarded so highly so many years after his passing.
Rip Off
There must've been a lost batch of first issues which later resurfaced, because I bought #1 from my local comicbook store straight off the shelf from amongst the latest comics about 2 or 3 years back - for the price of a regular issue. In fact, I bought two.
ReplyDeleteI run across it a lot in back issue bins, and it's always for relatively small money. It's the second one that's hard to get I guess. It's a handsome comic book.
ReplyDeleteRip Off
I have them both.Recall seeing a big box of issue 1 being sold on ebay a few years back.Seem to recall reading that most of the first issues print run was ripped off,and sat for decades somewhere stashed. If anything more had been done with the characters, these would be going for a lot more. One can see traces of the misfits,in the wood story in amazing spectaculers 2 from harvey, from 1966,I beleave called heroes inc.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your interesting and informative blog. I have enjoyed reading it and appreciate the work you have put into it. Here is some relevant information for you to review .
