I never noticed how much like the classic King Kong pose (a giant figure appearing to be assaulted by antique airplanes) this debut cover drawn by Herb Trimpe for The Phantom Eagle is. Both this book and the Gold Key King Kong adaptation came out in the same month back in the summer of 1968. That's an oddity sure enough.
