Here's a gallery featuring a baker's dozen covers with heroes who have had it. Of course all of them thought the better of it, and gave it another chance, but on these covers at least, they are just a bunch of quitters.
It's weird how some of those end up being some of my favourite covers of all time! Wonder Woman and Lois Lane for sure. That Teen Titans may be Aqualad's finest hour.
Great set of covers! I didn't know there were so many with the same theme. You omitted the most famous one - the one of Peter Parker walking away from his Spidey costume in the trashcan.
Luis - I intentionally left that Spidey cover off just because of what you say. It's the go-to image for this kind of thing, and I wanted some different stuff. Maybe I'll do a whole bunch of riffs on that cover sometime.
Britt - Those are intriguing ideas. Hmmm.
Aaron - They are dramatic images for sure. They speak to something in us I think.
Damn, I don't remember Lois Lane ever looking that good before.

ReplyDeleteNice assortment.
ReplyDeleteHow about a Hero-Turns-Criminal or Hero-in-Jail theme?

Dave - Lois is a bit of hottie on that cover.
