After coming together to combat the threat of Loki, the next villain the Mighty Avengers faced was the Space Phantom. Though revealed many years later to be only one among a multitude of Phantoms and a servant of Immortus, in the beginning the Phantom was a singular alien trickster not at all unlike Loki himself.
The Space Phantom is a key Marvel character because his machinations led to the Hulk leaving the team, making way for the clash with both Jadejaws and Namor the Sub-Mariner. It was on the way back from this great battle that the Avengers stumbled across the frozen form of Steve Rogers.
Here narrated by the Hulk himself is the second issue of Avengers adapted to cartoon form. Especially hilarious in this one is how they contort Iron Man's original golden armor design to mimmick his then current red and gold look. It's a failure.Rip Off
