Here are the covers from the Harvey reprints of Will Eisner's classic stories, plus a few new telling of his origin by Eisner in the first issue and the second issue offers a life story of the Octopus.
The first issue also had some new pages slipped in with the wonderful vintage stories. Below is a then-new snippet of a story by Will Eisner for the Harvey debut. Eisner also gives us a clever slap at the spy-craze which in fact might have encouraged Harvey to put out these two comics.
Rip Off
Outside of seeing a few images in books, these were my introduction to The Spirit. I read them countless times -- so unique from most other comics at the time.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. My baptism really came with the Warren books, but it was the same feeling. Vintage but fresh.
