Picture In The Rolling Stone!
It could've been worse for the General I reckon. Beetle knows that.
I'm always amused, but always saddened too how media folks contort events to support their pre-existing worldview regardless of the facts or any previous opinion on similar matters in the past.
In the matter of the current flap, I didn't hear one experienced military man say the General should be retained given the circumstances. Either they said that or they stayed mum on the issue, knowing their opinion was not supportive of the overall theme of the network they were appearing on.
So in spite of that unity of opinion among military men on this issue, criticism is nonetheless gets heaped on the Commander-in-Chief that the advice of the generals should dominate all others in the matters pertaining to war, and that the man elected to make those decisions should defer in all ways.
He did just that this time; he fired the guy. Or more correctly accepted his resignation. And they still lambast him.
He can't win it seems.
