I chanced upon these covers featuring Riverdale's twin teens in some remarkable get-ups. Veronica as the Black Widow is an offbeat but actually understandable fit, but Betty is a bit of a stretch. She's much more a Supergirl type.
It put me in mind of Spider-Man #86, the issue in which Natasha Romanova, the Black Widow went from staid 60's spy/superheroine (despite the fishnets) in the old style to a sleek and sexy super vixen. The black leather togs she donned in that issue are still one of the best designs for a Marvel character ever. John Romita outdid himself.

You can tell from the cover that the costume redesign changed a bit.

I enjoyed her brief turn as a star alongside the Inhumans in Amazing Adventures. Here's a link to her debut adventure, featuring some rugged John Buscema and John Verpoorten artwork.

Rip Off
I love the Black Widow. I've got to get the Amazing Adventures issues in some form. Side Note: I've never gotten the whole Veronica attraction. Always been a Betty man I guess.
ReplyDeletePut me down for Betty as well.

I long to see Spider-Man x The Black Widow team-up again!!
