Eisner took advantage of the Spirit's mysterious background to use him as a narrator here, in the manner of Uncle Creepy or Cousin Eerie or any of the many, many ghost hosts around in comics over the decades. Here's a link with a sample story. I only recently picked up a copy of this. I'm not aware that this has ever been reprinted. It sure deserves that honor.

Another book I wasn't aware off, so thanks for posting and linking to a few internal pages - this looks excellent.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very tasty paperback indeed. Glad to be the one to share news of it.
DeleteRip, I'd wish you a suitably scary Halloween but you've got Donald Trump in power which is already scary enough!
ReplyDeleteYou got that right. We don't need the Boogey Man when we've already got one demolishing the White House and trying to do the same to the country.
DeleteCan't say I'm aware of this, either, but it looks like one to track down. Eisner certainly was a busy man. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteEisner was a great comics storyteller and a canny businessman.
DeleteHappy Halloween! Have a good one!!
ReplyDeleteBack at you...belatedly.
DeleteIt's one I would definitely read! Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to showcase it for you. Hope the holiday was fun.
