Museum Quality!

Pardon the pun, but this IDW "Artist Appreciation" Cover totally "quacked" me up! Donald Duck in the guise of Vincent Van Gogh in the style of Vincent Van Gogh is nothing short of hilarious.

This delightful cover art by Wouter Tulp above now hangs in the Van Gogh Museum  in Amsterdam.

Vincent Van Gogh
Here's the famous 1887 self-portrait which inspired the Donald cover. To see it and many many more check out this link.

And below are some more covers from IDW for their "Art Appreciation Month" promotion. Entertaining alternate covers are fun to see when they are as clever as these.

Leonardo Da Vinci

John Everett Millais

Jacques-Louis David

Georges Seurat

Andrew Wyeth
I think aside from the Donald cover, the Judge Dredd variation on Wyeth's "Christina's World" is my favorite, the disconnect between the two is mesmerizing, and the Dredd cover works on its own merits.

  1. This is a bit of a tangent, but it's hard not to be reminded of the beautiful duck oil paintings Carl Barks created for fan commissions, quite an innovation when begun in the early seventies.

    1. No so weird I suspect as I thought of those too when I first saw this effort.
