The Adams Gallery!

Here in all their sumptuous glory are the Neal Adams covers featured over the course of the last month. It's a breathtaking way to end the year here at the Dojo.

See you next year.

  1. Wish I could say something profound, Rip, but those covers speak for themselves. Great stuff. Now how are you going to top them?

    1. You can't. Expect something different beginning tomorrow.

  2. I like the magazine covers, but his Marvel work always felt compromised to me. It may be something as simple as an artist being in charge at DC and knowing when it was time to get out of the way. A lot of the Marvel comics covers looked cluttered and constipated during this era, post-Stan, and there seemed to be a lot of unnecessary corrections, like John Romita redrawing a Neal Adams woman in a story to make her more "attractive". A lot of (perhaps) imperfect art was "fixed", the way you "fix" your cat. I was amazed they kept doing this once they saw the results.

Still, a great gallery, Rip. Happy New Year.

    1. I won't disagree with that. Adams did his best cover work for DC hands down. I've read that Carmine Infantino might've designed some of those covers for Adams to render, but the result however it came is magnificent.

Happy New Year to you too.
