How old do you think I am? Yep! You guessed it. I turn sixty-six today and the celebrate that humbling event I offer up sixty-six classic comic books which were the sixty-sixth issue of each run. It's quite a cavalcade of classics, spanning most all of comic book history that I care about. I'm glad to still be here at this ripe old age and look forward to this time next year when I might try this all over again with number sixty-seven. Enjoy!
Until next year amigos.
Rip Off
Judging from what we know about this list, making it to 66 indicates a successful comic, with a good chance of making it to 100. ( I think there's a subtle analogy somewhere in there. Happy Birthday, Dean.)
ReplyDeleteGee, thank you sir for the kind words. I'll take that heart.
DeleteGreat idea Rip, some great comics and titles there. Nice to see "Hot Stuff" again (a childhood favourite). Hope you have a good day, I'm not far behind you and 66 isn't that old nowadays, although at ti!e it feels like it is with creaking knees etc.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Hot Stuff fan too. I still enjoy a good Harvey comic now and again. I've already celebrated over the weekend, so today is scheduled for quiet reflection. Thank you for the kind words.
DeleteAnother fine blogroll of covers and the most happiest of birthdays. Hopefully you will be spared jokes about how many candles on your cake!
ReplyDeleteThanks a heap for the kind thoughts, and my daughters were gentle enough with me this weekend about my advanced age.
DeleteAnd I was born in '66. Happy birthday Rip/Dean - I'm sure you don't look a day over 30.
ReplyDeleteI assume you know that June 6th was the date of D-Day in 1944 when the Allied forces invaded Europe and the end of World War II was in sight.
Not a day perhaps, but a decade or seven maybe. D-Day is my favorite military date for a host of great reasons. Lots of brave people sacrificed themselves for a greater good. Let's hope we don't piss away that service with our stupidity in the modern day.
DeleteHappy birthday, old yin, but your memory is failing you in your dotage. You put up Detective Comics #66 twice.
ReplyDeleteThat was a test to see who was paying attention. (Nah!) Thanks for the catch. I shall try to do better next year. Thanks.
