A Day In The Anti-Life - The Happiness Package!

It was a surreal sight yesterday to watch hooligans scrambling across my nation's capitol. These were dull-witted mopes fueled by inchoate anger looking to get over on those they imagined had slighted them, though they were incapable of expressing just exactly what injustice they had been dealt. Simply put their chosen leader, a disreputable and cowardly bully of a man had lost a fair and carefully monitored election, but because that outcome didn't comport with the heated mythology that had been stoked within them, they sought some sort of redress. They attacked their imagined enemies and their own leadership, they stumbled into a property owned by us all and set about strutting and hopping about like clowns waiting to hear the call for the next act. And just as quickly as that it was clear they had lost their own way, there was no goal, no agenda item to tick off. Just angry self-loathing dullards screaming into the air and shoving camera men around for no particular purpose.

These cretins had got hold of what the "King" dubbed the "Happiness Package", a deceptive grim promise along with a lurid hat that made you part of a mob which sought to be "great again" or some other illusion, but which was lacking in depth of reason and thought and reflection which would actually allow sowing the seeds for such benefits. I admit it was somewhat comforting to see the rich and powerful who have been stoking this fire were startled when the flames licked at their own toes and they backed away, sheltering in place while violence cascaded through the nation's hallways. It was left to our new leader, a man of reason and compassion to label these actions sedition and I cannot disagree. There will be more of this for a short time sadly, but hopefully this is the bursting of an ugly blister full of resentment and hate, and now that it has broken and spewed forth its rancor for all to see the normal order of society can reassert itself. Then the inevitable march forward can begin again after this season of reactionary fervor has passed at long last.

Rip Off

  1. Well said, Rip. Kirby was of my father's generation, and both risked their lives with countless others to stop fascism in Europe in the 1940s. I'm glad my father didn't live to see the mobocracy at work yesterday, because it would have broken his heart. And infuriated him, as it would doubtless have infuriated Kirby.

    1. Kirby saw it all too well when the offender was Richard Nixon. There's little doubt what he'd say about this coward who taunts others to fight on his behalf.

  2. Shocking scenes but Trump represents an old dying America and the two new Senators (one black, one Jewish) show the way to the future hopefully.

    1. Agreed. We are shaking off the past, though there will be eruptions now and again, and the future of a better more tolerant society is getting closer and closer.

  3. The only good thing from this shocking display is that it has surely hastened Trump's demise and shown to those who cannot or don't want to see that he is a dangerous self serving rogue . Funny how quite those who verbally abused the BLMs protests have gone very quiet.

    1. Sadly the line now (predictably alas) is that "The Media" shows its hand by treating this demonstration/riot differently than all the BLM marches. Suggesting I guess that breaking into a CVS is the same as breaking into the capitol of the nation. Sigh.
