This Ninja ad appeared in some issues of Yang and House of Yang (and other Charlton comics too I'm sure).

Martial Arts ads have been a staple of comics for ages and ages as can be seen by this ad which is from Charlton's Thunderbolt series. They are of course most appreciated here at the Dojo.

Having such ads in comics focused on the very skills hyped in the ads must be an irresistible bit of synergy for those who want to reach a specific audience. Since these types of ads continued to appear in comics for decades, I can only imagine they produced.
Here's a link to a website which features a bunch of these vintage ads.
Rip Off
I wonder if there's anyone out there who's now an unstoppable killing machine as a result of answering one those ads.
ReplyDeleteA guy I used to work with, was a comics fan and a big martial artist. I don't know what his inspiration for getting into it was though. Maybe!
