Ditko's Amazing Spider-Man Artist's Edition!

I'm closing out this month-long look at Steve Ditko's work for Marvel with a glimpse of a beautiful Artist's Edition. This tome contains many pages of original art including entire comics. Spidey's origin is here, a true bit of Americana.  Here are more details.

At $175 bucks I don't suspect I'll be adding it to my hoard, but it's nice knowing it exists.  Next month we turn our attention back to Charlton and the project Ditko turned his attention to when he left Marvel -- The Blue Beetle.

  1. I bought a John Romita Snr Spider-Man artist edition using a gift card ( and £20 cash) that I was given as a present a few years ago. I only bought it as the book was in a sale at £70 and I thought the shop was closing for good (and had to use the gift card quickly). Luckily the shop was just moving to bigger premises. The book and was very nice to see the original pencils etc but they are pretty costly at full price. The Ditko edition would have been fantastic though.

    1. I did much the same thing when I found one of these Artist's Editions for the Silver Surfer. I had some credit to burn and the book was on sale. It's great to have, but storing these oversized books is a pain.

  2. Man, this would be a treasure to have, especially to see and study Ditko's line work. The price, though, is off the chart for me to spend on something like this. Bwah! Can't wait for your Blue Beetle segment.
