Here is a bit of outstanding artwork by Howard Purcell featuring Dane Whitman, the Black Knight.
The context of this art is unknown to me, but maybe it's a tryout design for the Marvelmania poster Purcell did with the Knight.
Clearly though it's related in content to the one story Purcell drew for Marvel Super-Heroes #17.

I want those posters! And I must get a copy of the BK story in MSH on ebay. That cover is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe Black Knight is in my top three fave Marvel heroes, and I learned to like him during this period when we were learning more and more about him. It's a great period for the character.
