My beautiful wife Lizzie has passed away.
It's almost impossible to believe that I am typing those words. She was my devoted partner for over forty years and I will love her the rest of my life. She died of complications from pneumonia, a pernicious condition
she had been battling for all of this year and more. In the end there were no more treatments to explore and her body and her generous heart just gave out, and she passed in her sleep with her two lovely daughters and myself at her side. My family, who have long accepted her as one of their own were there too, as we said goodbye to the strongest and finest woman I will ever know.
I love her and I miss her, and I always will.

I am so sorry to hear that 😑 I myself am dealing with the loss of my single mom, being her only child, back in March & awaiting the birth of my first child & what would have been her first grand-child in June, who she never got to see...I am truly sorry for your loss & wish you every condolence in the world 🙁
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear. Deepest condolences to you and yours. We’re here for you man.
ReplyDeleteMere words can't express my sorrow at your devastating loss. Best wishes to you and your family in the difficult days ahead.
ReplyDeleteThis year has already been unbearably cruel in terms of wonderful people we've lost, but this is beyond words. You and your family will be in all our thoughts.
ReplyDeleteYou must know that if you need support, it will come from everywhere, including from your wife. Forty years of love is no small thing; in that time glittering particles of her are embedded in your world and surround and protect you like microscopic Scrapper-Troopers. She will continue to be part of you and you'll still be able to hear when she speaks to you.
ReplyDeleteSincere condolences, Rip. Many thoughts and prayers for you and your family in the coming days.

I am so sorry to hear that Rip. All of our prayers are for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteOh Rip, this is such a heartbreak. Be assured that we are all deeply saddened by your loss, and thank you for trusting this community enough to share your grief with us. We are sad with you, and honored to be included in your circle of concerned and supportive friends.

So sorry to hear your sad news, Rip. My sincerest condolences.
ReplyDeleteI too am so sorry for your loss. I only know you through regularly reading your blog, even so I feel I can empathize with you. I am just coming up to celebrating our 30th anniversary with my wife, don't want to imagine how tough losing her would be. As the others have said, our thoughts and sympathies are with you and your family.

I can't imagine the sorrow and pain you're going through right now, but I do know that real love never dies and that it's passed on through family and friends. Prayers and condolences to you and your family.

Condolences on your loss.
ReplyDeleteI've just seen this post or would have commented sooner. No words of mine will console you, but my sincerest condolences for your loss. I wish I could type something that would ease your pain, but can think of nothing except to say that, for what it's worth, you have my deepest sympathy.
ReplyDeleteRip, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Forty years is a long time, but those same years can pass so very quickly. Please accept my sympathies and prayers for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteOur thoughts are with you during this trying time.

One who died is only a little ahead
of the procession all moving that way.
When we round the corner, we'll see [her] again.
We have lost [her] for only a moment
because we fell behind,
stopping to tie a shoelace.

Rip, sincere condolences in this most difficult time for you and your daughters. From myself and all the members of your online family, we offer our deepest sympathies.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss, Rip. Prayers and thoughts lifted for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the exceedingly kind wishes. Services are today and we are full of hectic activity and swift emotions. My girls have been champs at getting the drudgery taken care of and doing some necessary business calling, and my local church has been amazing in allowing us complete flexibility in what we want. My Lizzie was a great lady and we are saying goodbye to her in style. We will grieve for some uncounted time to come, but keeping access to regular diversions (of which this blog is one) will be even more key to my voyage back. Thanks again to one and all.

I'm glad that you have your daughters, both for support and for the reflection of Lizzie they continue to provide.
ReplyDeleteThis may sound a little odd, but do you have any favorite pictures of her that you'd care to share?
I hope you find peace with her spirit while you take time off to be with her.
