King Features!
2015 is the 100th anniversary for King Features Syndicate. All this month look for a different King Features character in the Favorite Cover box to the right and when I'm not yakking about OMAC it will be King Features stuff exclusively. I am a monster fan of Lee Falk's The Phantom and to a lesser extent Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon and Falk's other hero Mandrake. But other King Features characters are faves here also like Elzie Segar's Popeye and Mort Walker's Beetle Bailey.
The comic strip has diminished for the most part in our modern world, but at the turn of the 20th Century the power and influence wielded by these colorful additions to the newspapers of the world could hardly be underrated. The first part of the last century was the heyday of the comic strip but as with most things it lost its grip in the face of newer and fancier diversions.
But here at the Dojo we want to take time and remember a time when comics were King.
Rip Off
