After coming together to combat the threat of Loki, the next villain the Mighty Avengers faced was the Space Phantom. The Space Phantom is a key Marvel character because his machinations led to the Hulk leaving the team, making way for the clash with both Jadejaws and Namor the Sub-Mariner. It was on the way back from this great battle that the Avengers stumbled across the frozen form of Steve Rogers.
