Man-Beast!
Man Beast is the best movie Jerry Warren made, but that's still not saying much. We have one of the early flicks which tried to get some trade out of the notorious legends of the Abominable Snownan, the fanciful creatures from the Himalayas. The story is actually pretty good, the acting pretty ho-hum and the direction so-so as vintage mountain climbing footage is blended with new stuff about finding the mountain monster.
The snowman himself is represented by the costume used in White Pongo, White Gorilla and elsewhere, but trimmed down to give a different and not completely useless effect. While our heroes, a brave climber, a woman looking to save her brother and her quarrelsome boyfriend gambol about the mountain snows, the Yeti pops up from rocks here and there to look menacing. The real gimmick in this movie is the implication that the Yetis are getting help in their continued survival from human agents. That's a creepy enough idea that it caught my fancy and made me inclined to reward this movie beyond its merits.
Man Beast is nowhere near a really good movie, but it's a almost good movie and sometimes that's all I need to pass the time agreeably. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it, but don't pay much for it by any means.
Rip Off
