The Man from Hell is an outstanding Sherlock Holmes adventure. It's got all the stuff we look for, a rousing mystery which entices Sherlock to take a look, a relatively fresh setting in the English countryside, and a simply outstanding back story which informs the the whole of the narrative. I was put much in mind of the classic
A Study in Scarlet in many respects.
Barrie Roberts knows how to craft a tale which buzzes along with a fantastic tempo, and create a mystery loaded with bit and curious and memorable characters from across the globe.
This one is highly recommended.
