The Redeemer!
The second issue of the luscious Joe Kubert Presents offers up "The Redeemer", a series Kubert offered up the first time way back in the pre-Crisis year of 1983. It's the story of a man who is reborn time and again and finds himself a savior of sorts who is destined to be tempted by the forces of evil time after time. It's a potentially potent story.
So why did it take so long to see print. Here is a link which has the details, such as they are. You might have to scroll down a bit to find it. The story of The Redeemer was told in an issue of Amazing Heroes, and was the cover feature.
Here's a closer look at that colorful cover art, as well as a glimpse of two early pages from the story.
The story, what there is will appear in issues two and three of Joe Kubert Presents. It's great that such fine Kubert artwork finally gets a release, but it's regrettable it did not happen in his lifetime.

Those Kubert comics look like something I'd be interested in as well. I always enjoyed his Tor series. I'll look for them at the comic shop. Thanks for the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteNo problem, glad to be of service. I hesitate to get any new actual comic books, but this series won me over. It's been outstanding so far.

It's just sad that Joe Kubert Presents is a reminder of our loss.
ReplyDeleteI hope the Trade Collection will be something exceptional.

I'm doubtful on the trade, that's why I'm getting them as they come out. The Kubert stuff will likely get collected, but the other stuff by Glanzman and Buniak perhaps not.
