This exciting cover by Al Williamson for the King Features
Flash Gordon #4 from 1967 demands your attention. Flash, Zarkov, and Dale fight for their very lives against a Mongo version of a Pteranodon. It's for the story "Lost Continent of Mongo" written by Archie Goodwin and drawn by Williamson.
Here's the original artwork for this dynamic cover.
The cover art was used again for this Norwegian reprint in 1980.
And again for this 1982 Pinnacle paperback reprint of Flash's adventures.
But its earliest reuse was in 1973 when the art was tucked underneath some vintage Hal Foster art in an issue of Prince Valiant for issue #R-08 of the King Reading Library. Alas poor Dale has been excised though.
Beautiful comics all!
