The Art Of Neal Adams!
This attractive volume from Vanguard features some tantalizing artwork by the great man. I was compelled to pick it up (using some store credit mind you) though because of the outstanding image of Tarzan as he emerges from the water here, his ferocious nature bristling as he moves forward to attack. Neal Adams had an uncanny ability to capture the raw energy of the Ape Man like no other artist before or since.
I've documented my adoration for his "black covers" for Ballantine here. These images make the imagination quiver to know the context of the scenes they present. That's the very essence of good illustration.
Here's what appears to be a study for the artwork seen above. It's always revealing to see the evidence of an artist's approach.
