Marvel Super-Heroes TV!
It's not too much to say that the Marvel Super-Heroes TV show was what drew me into comics. As primitive as those cartoons are, they still make use of luscious artwork of Jack Kirby and Don Heck and Gene Colan among others. Seeing those panels on the screen was a luminescent experience, and later when I began to gather the source stories in reprint form, I was titillated to find the art recognizable on the page, the same forms and poses that had burned themselves so effectively onto my retinas only a few years earlier. Heady stuff.
The FF and Spidey cartoons were great. The Superman and Aquaman cartoons were wonderful. The Hanna-Barbara superhero line was exquisite. But none of them equalled the impact of these clunky old Lawrence-Gantray cartoons.
Rip Off
