Bill Black at AC Comics way back when Charlton was drifting into oblivion sought a revival under his Indy label with the old Action Hero characters. At about the same time apparently the characters were sold to DC for then editor Dick Giordano to use. Eventually the Charlton heroes were folded into the larger DCU, but most Charlton fans will tell you it's been an uneasy fit for the most part. The AC comics though despite an amateurish veneer had a lot of great energy and at least treated the Charlton heroes like a big deal. I wish Black had been able to do more with them. The Americomics Special was a one-shot story uniting the heroes just before DC absorbed them for all time.
