But the movie with its prologue and epilogue ended up being about him.

Rip OffRip Jaggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09936426877024852134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8220285230636101823.post-81258712444051000672017-04-05T02:17:15.996-04:002017-04-05T02:17:15.996-04:00The rule of monster movies, right from Fay Wray to...The rule of monster movies, right from Fay Wray to now is that we have to care about the people who find the monster and have to deal with it. If we don't then it's just so many special effects.

Rip OffRip Jaggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09936426877024852134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8220285230636101823.post-5710458378786712322017-04-04T10:54:28.514-04:002017-04-04T10:54:28.514-04:00Based on the trailers, I expected John C. I was also sure he was not going to survive, so it was wonderful to see he got a happy ending.Monchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14132341373842481242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8220285230636101823.post-56806850301704197122017-04-04T08:37:07.858-04:002017-04-04T08:37:07.858-04:00I saw it the day it was released and I agree almos...I saw it the day it was released and I agree almost totally with you. I did find a bit more personality in a few of the supporting characters, but yeah, they were just "born to die" as far as the writers and directors were concerned. And, I agree, too, that no matter how "battle hardened" one might be from the horrors of actual war, big honkin' monsters would have to freak you out!
