Kirby did a similar thing with a Cap annual, the one with the alien vampire. That one didn't connect up much with the larger storyline at the time. He clearly wanted these to be stand alone events.

My favorite annuals were the ones that fit into continuity but weren't necessarily required for the main storyline. Avengers Annual #2 is that way, and so is Hulk Annual #1 to a degree.

Rip OffRip Jaggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09936426877024852134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8220285230636101823.post-741351450276794352014-07-17T23:26:20.957-04:002014-07-17T23:26:20.957-04:00I must confess I found it hard going when I re-rea...I must confess I found it hard going when I re-read it recently. I had to put it down halfway through (hardly a good sign) and finish reading it the next night - and I really wanted to enjoy it, too. Over on Bronze-Age Babies at the moment, Doug and Karen pose the question about comics that 'don't stand up' over time - I'm afraid that, for me, The Eternals Annual #1 (and only) falls into that category.Kidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07224781868125924337noreply@blogger.com
