Bill Everett as always is the exception to that general rule.

Look forward to the Golden Age peeks. As you say, that Golden Age filtered through the lens of the Bronze was part of that experience.

Rip OffRip Jaggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09936426877024852134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8220285230636101823.post-9489236205137442592013-02-17T13:42:14.840-05:002013-02-17T13:42:14.840-05:00Will chase it down, based on your review Will chase it down, based on your review Ira Henkinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00982563629911220407noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8220285230636101823.post-16506437880948462962013-02-16T18:55:24.323-05:002013-02-16T18:55:24.323-05:00I've been eyeing this one as well, and think t...I've been eyeing this one as well, and think that for now at least I'll wait. However, I have decided to do a few Golden Age reviews on Bronze Age Babies, which will commence late this spring. After all, we were all exposed to these old stories in the Giant-Size books.

Thanks for the recommendation, Rip!

DougDoughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04248324005584963229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8220285230636101823.post-72859958624555494602013-02-16T07:09:26.601-05:002013-02-16T07:09:26.601-05:00A lot of this stuff is available in other sources ...A lot of this stuff is available in other sources admittedly. But it's that chronological sweep which sets these collections apart for me. For instance in this one, it's easy to see how much Timely/Marvel developed before the arrival of Captain America.

I'd like to see one focusing on the post-war years and the 50's. Then we'd get that multiple genre thing going again. Maybe this one would've been helped by some funny animal stuff in it.

Rip OffRip Jaggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09936426877024852134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8220285230636101823.post-20686860405734659012013-02-16T06:08:28.055-05:002013-02-16T06:08:28.055-05:00I looked at this volume a couple of days back in m...I looked at this volume a couple of days back in my local comic shop, but decided to give it a miss. I've got the previous four volumes, but somehow I found this one less than inspiring. One for completists only, I think. Kidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07224781868125924337noreply@blogger.com
