The Artist Of The Jungle!

I don't own this handsome publication. At a cool one hundred or so bucks, Joe Kubert's Tarzan of the Apes - Artist's Edition is a premium item and I already own the stories at least once. But I'd love to see it more fully and take a close gander at the work Joe Kubert did on this seminal story.

This page is a sample and it's bristling with wild energy and ferocious grace. Kubert could bring that to the comics page, a fluid sense of motion tied to a real drama.

The collection contains for sure the four-part origin tale which transformed my understanding of the Ape Man for all time.

There are two other stories of Tarzan's jungle adventures included.

And for a cool three hundred bucks you can have this limited edition. Sigh, if only.

When I saw the snippet on our blog roll, I thought "No he didn't!!". And you didn't. But like you, I've been very intrigued by these fantastic books. As you said, "if only..."

    1. I'd love to own it, but I don't know. It's too much now to justify adding it, but I'd love to get a glimpse.

  2. I did! I own the $100 edition.
Some of my most favorite comics of all time.
    It is Magnificent.
I know it will seem foolish to most to spend so much money.
Not to me. No regrets at all.
    Best,
