Messages In A Bottle!

Messages in a Bottle: Comic Book Stories by B.Krigstein is a very pretty collection filled with colorful robust comic book pages. I used some accumulated store credit to pick up this handsome collection from Fantagraphics. It features the work of artist Bernie Krigstein, and offers up a ranger of stories from throughout his career, including some of his key work for EC Comics. These are the kinds of stories you save up for when you're in the mood for a an old-fashioned well crafted, well told comic book yarn. Looking forward to plowing around in this one.

Here's a page from his Krigstein's most famous comic story "Master Race". His storytelling is impeccable, and it's easy to see where later creators like Jim Steranko were influenced by Krigstein. To read the whole story see this link.

  1. There are always some great images on your blog, Rip. I'm going to have to sit down one day and work my way through your posts from the beginning. I'll keep an eye out for that book.

    1. I look forward to reading what you think. The book is a worthy volume and like most Fantagraphic books the price and heft seem to match pretty well.
