Under Foot!

This cover by Big John Buscema and George Klein is magnificent, capturing an impossible scene which helps sell the mystery of the Yellowjacket. The poses of all the characters instantly communicates the situation and the character of all involved. Magnificent.

I love Herb Trimpe's inking, and this cover shows off his textures as well as any. An amazingly lively and dramatic cover this is.

Hank Pym sure leads a curious and complex life.

  1. The Avengers issue is one of my favorites. I had a beat up copy with Vision's head cut out when I was a boy. The ironic thing is I never would have been able to afford a good copy of it.

I've always loved the idea that Hank Pym had a different personality with every persona. To me, it's one of the more interesting aspects of a sort of flat character.

  2. Other than Hawkeye, Hank Pym is my favorite Avenger. His many personalities make for a vivid history and a compelling hero. I love the old yellow and gold Goliath best, but all of the Pym identities have virtues.
